This is what I wrote on Opinionated Black oman's blog:

Numb[ness] is the perfect word; I couldn’t think or feel anything for about 10 seconds. I am so f-cking not surprised, but it just fuels my angry black womanism. All I could think of was the pain that his fiance will feel for the rest of her life.

I swear if ANYONE says that racism doesn’t exsist anymore I will personally roundhouse kick them in the face!

And TAO: I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I cannot begin to express how this verdict makes me feel---it is almost Zen-like.

I heard this on CNN, somewhere between all the reportage on Barak Obama and the likelihood of him getting the nomination. In spite of the fact that he's still leading in the popular vote and number of delegates, it seems that any victory for HRC is being seen as proof that many white people in the US just simply won't vote for a black man simply because he's black. I don't know if this is really true or if it's just that the 'authorities' want it to be so and so declare it true. Either way, it's a reminder that, despite the Obama euphoria that seemed to have spread over the country a few months ago, maybe things haven't changed THAT much!

From the beginning of America's inception, racism was very much instituted by the 'authorities' to keep the hoi polloi in line (and in discord) and it has very much been used to its advantage ever since.

It's still a country (like many others, I guess) where black men can be killed for no special reason, and the perpetuators, if they're accorded any blame at all, can be described as being simply careless and incompent.

One or even two shots I could understand as being "carelessness and incompetence" but 50...!!??

@ IW - Numb is exactly how I felt as well... and that's not good actually. It means that we've become so overwhelmed with this shit for far too long that we've been rendered somewhat helpless and therefore a little indifferent to it all... it's like it's no longer the exception. It's the norm.

@ Wendy - as the saying goes... the more things (supposedly) change, the more they stay the same.
